What are Advanced Integrative Therapies?

Advanced Integrative Therapies is a problem-solving session that combines tools and techniques: cupping, myofascial release, gua sha, assisted stretching, muscle energy technique (MET) and trigger point work. We choose the mix based on what your body needs that day.

Who Advanced Integrative Therapies are for

  • Tension that hasn’t budged with regular massage
  • Limited range of motion in a shoulder, hip, knees or neck
  • Active bodies and athletes
  • Anyone curious about cupping or gua sha

What to expect in your Advanced Integrative Therapies session

We start with a quick assessment of how you move, where your pain is and what your overall goal is. Every tool is explained before we use it, and you can say no to any of them. Cupping can leave round marks from the increased blood flow that usually fade within a few days. Gua sha can leave red streaks or marks from connective tissue adhesion release. Myofascial release can leave tissues feeling tender. Sessions run 60 or 90 minutes.

Why fascial release, cupping, gua sha and integrative therapies at Embodied Healing Center

Tools are only as good as the hands and judgment behind them. We use them with purpose, not for show, and pace the work to your nervous system so your body can actually let go and invite us in.

Advanced Integrative Therapies FAQ

Will cupping leave marks?

Acrylic cups on the back to decompress tissue

Stationary cup-often, yes. The round marks are usually painless and fade within a few days. Tell us if you have an event coming up. Myofascial or gliding cupping does not leave any marks and can be done on more sensitive tissues.

What is gua sha/IASTM?

A smooth-edged tool glided over the skin to ease tight tissue relieve adhesions and sticky connective tissue and support circulation.

What is muscle energy techniques (MET)?

A gentle technique where you lightly contract a muscle against resistance, then relax, to help it release and lengthen.

Does it hurt?

Rolling ice on neck

It can feel intense in spots, but never more than you agree to. You can change or stop any technique. If the area was worked intensely, your therapist may apply cold therapy to reduce pain and inflammation.

Can I book just cupping, just guasha, just fascial release?

Yes. Tell us at check-in and we will focus the session there. While the service name may change to reflect what we actually did, the techniques we use each and every session are geared towards client goals and therapist treatment plans.
